The traditional litmus paper test or other chemical test kits are far less accurate, many of them giving an accuracy of +/- 0.5. pH meters do not require replacement, as with litmus or other available chemical test kits, although they do require occasional recalibration.

pH Meter Calibration Buffer Solutions (Recommended)

It is recommended that in order to maintain very accurate readings, the unit should be calibrated on an annual basis using a pH buffer solution. This applies not only to this unit, but to any other pH meter available for purchase as well (even though other advertisers conveniently forget to mention this!). We are able to supply the pH buffers for the above unit for an additional $5.95. Should you not purchase the buffers, they are available from places such as pet shops and aquariums for $25.00 upwards.
